Our team has successfully completed Cavendish Hydrogen’s first, and one of Italy’s largest hydrogen refueling stations, located in Brunico, in the province of South Tyrol. While the station is not yet open to the public, the recent Site Acceptance Test (SAT) marks a significant milestone—signifying the formal handover of the station to the customer and validating its operational readiness.
Strategically positioned to support the upcoming Winter Olympics and broader regional mobility needs, the station is one of the largest of its kind in the country. It features three dispensers – two for buses and trucks, and one for cars – with a contractual minimum daily capacity of 800 kg. The primary use of the station will be for buses.
The journey from concept to commissioning involved extensive collaboration with the customer, beginning with site planning and design. Despite a long lead time due to permitting and regulatory processes, the project progressed steadily, with installation and commissioning taking place earlier this year. The commissioning phase required optimal performance, and the SAT confirmed that the station meets all required specifications.
A defining feature of our projects is the strong spirit of partnership we foster with our clients. The customer approached the project with an open mind and a shared commitment to advancing clean energy. This collaborative mindset enabled us to overcome challenges and deliver a solution that not only meets expectations but sets a new benchmark for hydrogen infrastructure in Italy.
As hydrogen mobility continues to gain traction across Europe, projects like this are more than infrastructure—they are foundational steps toward a cleaner, more sustainable future. We’re proud of the dedication and expertise our team brought to this effort, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this station will have on the region.
